Stephen G. Smith is the founder of From Here Business Advisors, where he helps small and mid-sized business owners uncover hidden profit and build stronger, more resilient companies.
Stephen’s approach starts with listening. He focuses on understanding where an owner and their team are today, what is creating friction, and what success needs to look like on the other side. From there, he helps build a tailored path forward that is realistic, measurable, and aligned to the business’s goals. In other words, he helps owners move from here to where they want to go.
Over a 25+ year career in international management consulting, Stephen has partnered with leaders across industries to make high-stakes decisions and move forward with new technology, employee experience improvements, operational change, and organization-wide transformation. At firms including Accenture, World Wide Technology, and North Highland, he earned a reputation for building trusted relationships and turning complex challenges into clear, practical plans.
Along the way, Stephen also developed a passion for mentoring and coaching. He has supported newer consultants throughout their careers and created the LinkedIn newsletter and podcast "In the Middle of Consulting" to share his stories, lessons learned, and practical guidance.
Today, Stephen brings that same clarity and coaching mindset to business owners. Using his years of consulting experiences, plus the power of Profit Acceleration Software, he helps clients increase profitability, improve margins, and reduce day-to-day operational pressure so they can focus on the work and customers that matter most. The result is a clear action plan with specific next steps and accountability.
When he’s not at work, Stephen is always on the lookout for a great story. He especially enjoys Colorado weekends with his wife Julie that kick off with a delicious breakfast and wraps up in the mountains. He also loves travel that helps you gain new perspectives and those deep conversations where someone finally shares the real story, and you can finally understand what’s really happening. If he has a notebook handy, you’ll probably find him sketching ideas, jotting down lessons, or writing down questions that can help someone move forward.
